Marquees of the Hotel Okura’s Annex were decorated by the pattern of Scales 鱗(うろこ) in golden color, and Diamond菱(ひし) patterns’ wall were set at the back of it. Unfortunately the Annex was demolished in 2021. The pattern formed of combination of triangles was derived from its similarity to the scales on snakes and Chinese legendary dragons. The patterns have sometime been taken into dresses of Kabuki to express females’ implacable emotion or jealousy.
