Classic patterns at Hatoyama Hall

While a crest of single twisted goose is seen in many cases, Hatoyama family’s is designed with three geese, which is decorating the main gate of the compound. It’s called as Musubi karigane (結び雁金), literally a twisted geese or Mitsu karigane (三つ雁金), three twisted geese tied themselves up with their hips. For a door of drawing room and window frames of the house, the crest of single twisted goose is applied.
“geese in flight” in the pictures or cloth is based on these birds’ distinctive flight formation and get much popularity.
